The Do's and Don'ts of Lash Maintenance: Tips from The Aye Lash

Here we're diving into the essential do's and don’ts of lash maintenance to keep your extensions looking fabulous for longer.

DO: Keep Them Clean

- Gentle Cleansing: Use a gentle, oil-free cleanser to keep your lashes clean. Avoid cotton pads; instead, opt for a clean, soft makeup brush or a lint-free cloth. Micellar water works for this without the added expense of buying a lash shampoo.

- Regular Cleaning: Clean your lashes daily to remove buildup of natural oils and makeup residue.

DON'T: Use Oil-Based Products

-Avoid Oils: Oil-based products can weaken the adhesive bond of your lash extensions, causing them to fall out prematurely.

- Check Your Products: Always check the ingredients of your makeup and skincare products to ensure they are lash-friendly.

DO: Brush Them Regularly

- Gentle Brushing: Use a clean spoolie brush to gently comb through your lashes. This keeps them neat and prevents tangling. We will always give a spoolie away with you at your appointment.

- Morning Routine: Make it a habit to brush your lashes every morning to maintain their alignment.

DON'T: Rub Your Eyes

- Be Gentle: Avoid rubbing your eyes, as this can cause your extensions to fall out or become misaligned.

- Mind the Pressure: When cleansing or drying your face, pat gently around the eye area.

DO: Schedule Regular Refills

- Consistent Appointments: To maintain the fullness of your lash extensions, schedule regular refill appointments. Or opt to have them soaked off and replaced with a fresh set.

DON'T: Use Mascara or Eyelash Curlers

- Skip Mascara: Lash extensions are designed to give you the length and volume without the need for mascara. If you apply mascara to your eyelash extensions, they’ll just clump together. Avoid the clump!

- Avoid Curlers: Eyelash curlers can damage your extensions. Your extensions are already curled!

DO: Sleep on Your Back

- Protect Your Lashes: Sleeping on your back helps to avoid crushing your lashes against the pillow.

- Silk Pillowcases: Consider using a silk pillowcase for an extra level of care for both your lashes and skin. How very bougée.

DON'T: Pull or Pick at Your Lashes

- Resist the Urge: Picking or pulling at your lash extensions can damage your natural lashes.
