Winter Lash Care Tips: How to Keep Your Extensions their best in Cold Weather

Hello, folks! Another snippet of info here from Jo at The Aye Lash in Blantyre.

When Winter hits, it comes with chilly winds, drier air, and all the layers. While winter brings its share of beauty, it can also be a tricky time for eyelash extensions. The cold weather, central heating, and other seasonal factors can make lashes a bit more fragile, so it’s essential to give them extra love during these colder months.

To keep your lash extensions looking great all winter, and let’s face it we’re in Scotland, it’ll feel like it lasts 100 years, here are my top tips for winter lash care!

Avoid Hot Showers and Steam

We all love a hot shower or a steamy bath when it’s freezing outside, but too much steam can weaken the adhesive bond on your lashes, causing them to shed faster. So, keep those steamy showers short and avoid sticking your face directly into the steam! I mean it.

Handle Scarves, Hats, and Hoods with Care

Winter means piling on cozy scarves, hats, and even big hoods, but these can accidentally rub against your lashes and cause premature shedding. Be mindful when wrapping a scarf around your face or putting on your favorite beanie. Try to keep anything fluffy away from your lash line to avoid friction.

Brush Daily to Keep Lashes Fluffy and Full

During winter, lashes can get a bit more tangled due to the dry air and extra layers. Use a clean lash spoolie (the wee brush I give you after your appointment!) to gently brush through your lashes each day. This keeps them fluffy, separated, and looking fresh all season long.

Invest in a Lash-Safe Cleanser for Daily Cleaning

Cold weather can lead to dry, flaky skin around the eyes, which means build-up on the lash line. Using a lash-safe cleanser daily helps keep your extensions clean and free from any residue or flakes, which keeps your lashes looking their best and helps prevent irritation. I’m not here to sell anything to you, micellar water works!

Schedule Regular Fills to Keep Your Set Looking Fresh

Winter weather can make lash extensions shed a little more quickly, so it’s a good idea to schedule regular fills to maintain the fullness and fluffiness you love.
